Hello, I am Mary Joyner, owner and founder of Dare To Yoga.

My story goes a little something like this. In 2010 my athletic career came to an end after 17 years of competitive sports, soccer being the most important. Once the sports came to an end I quickly realized just how old my body felt at the young age of nineteen. It was time to figure out what I wanted the rest of my life to look like; pain and surgery, or the enjoyment of being young.

I found yoga, the rest is history.

Yoga saved my life physically but it wasn’t until I struggled with anxiety and depression that it saved me mentally. It was through the difficult times when I fully dedicated myself to my practice. After years of building a practice I realized I wanted to share this with the world. I knew I could save lives just like all my past teachers saved mine. In 2017 I became a part of an incredible 200-HR Yoga Teacher Training and have been teaching ever since. I am a certified 200-Registered Yoga Teacher and SUP Yoga Teacher.

In late 2018 I moved to the Outer Banks after meeting the love of my life, a boat captain who I met on a family fishing trip. It was the perfect place for me to start a business as I saw the potential this beautiful island had to offer. It was within 6 months of moving that Dare To Yoga became not only a dream but a reality. Between the support of my family, friends, and husband I was capable of accomplishing the most important thing I’ve ever done.

My yoga practice is very special to me and everyday I push myself to new challenges, allowing to grow both on and off the mat. Each day I choose to learn something new which I share with my students each time I teach. My world is never boring and is constantly changing which I incorporate into my teaching style. No two classes of mine are the same as we are constantly learning and growing together.

My passion in life is to enrich and empower people’s lives through yoga. Yoga is for everyBODY, all you need is a body.

See you on the mat.
